Ages 5–12 · Grades 1–6

A new way to raise a confident mathematician.

The VENA is a premier mathematics programme for Grades 1–6. We build deep understanding through visual-first, small-group teaching — and design a clear pathway from foundation to Olympiad mastery.

Our Methodology

The meaning of V·E·N·A

Each letter is a teaching principle built into every lesson, every term, every interaction with a student. Four commitments we make in every classroom, every day.

V

Visual First

Every concept begins as a picture — tiles, bar models, grids, diagrams — before it ever becomes a number sentence.

E

Every Child, Seen

Classes of 6–10 students. Teachers know each child's thinking style and choose problems that stretch without overwhelming.

N

Number Sense, Built

Mental mathematics, estimation, benchmark fractions — the quiet foundations that make later mathematics feel easy.

A

Ask "Why"

Children explain their thinking, compare methods with peers, and learn there is always more than one way to a correct answer.

Every lesson. Every term. Not an add-on.

Academic Programs

Six grades. Three stages.
One continuous pathway.

Students are placed by diagnostic assessment, not by age — so no child is pushed beyond their readiness and none is held back.

Pre-Ecolier

Grades 1–2

Ages 5–7

Building the foundation through hands-on discovery. Children learn to see mathematics before they symbolise it.

  • Number sense & place value
  • Visual arithmetic with manipulatives
  • "Make 10" & mental-math fluency
  • Shape, pattern & measurement
  • Word-problem storytelling

Ecolier

Grades 3–4

Ages 8–9

Deepening fluency and introducing reasoning. Students begin to tackle problems that require more than one step.

  • Multiplication & division mastery
  • Fractions through diagrams
  • Introduction to logic puzzles
  • Multi-step word problems
  • Early competition exposure

Benjamin

Grades 5–6

Ages 10–12

Mastery-level work with Olympiad preparation. Students develop the habits of careful reading, multiple strategies, and rigorous justification.

  • Ratios, percentages & algebra prep
  • Geometry & spatial reasoning
  • Number theory fundamentals
  • Olympiad problem-solving strategies
  • Mock competition training

What a term looks like

Each term is twelve weeks of small-group teaching. Every week includes a new concept introduced visually, a fluency routine, a word-problem or puzzle for reasoning, and a brief written reflection. Parents receive updates at midpoint and a full portfolio at the end.

Assessment, without anxiety

No surprise tests. Students are assessed continuously through their work, explanations, and termly diagnostic reviews. Reports are qualitative and specific: what your child can do, what they are working on, and what comes next.

The Olympiad Pathway

From first lessons to the competition stage.

Not every VENA student will sit an Olympiad — and we never pressure a child onto that path. But for those who want it, we have designed a deliberate progression so that "Olympiad" never feels like a cliff to climb.

"A child who trains with us for Olympiad does not stop being a child. They still play, still laugh, still draw in the margins. They simply also know how to think carefully for an hour."

01

Basic

Discover the joy

We introduce light puzzle-style problems alongside the core curriculum. Children experience the joy of a 'hard' problem that yields to careful thinking. No scores, no pressure — just the taste of it.

02

Intermediate

Build the toolkit

Students who show interest join a weekly problem-solving strand. We introduce named strategies — working backwards, extreme cases, invariants, casework — and practice on age-appropriate competition problems.

03

Advanced

Compete with confidence

Committed students enter our Olympiad preparation track: mock competitions, timed sets, individual coaching sessions, and systematic preparation for national, regional, or international competitions.

Why Parents Choose Us

Five reasons families stay.

01

A methodology, not a syllabus

We teach a single coherent method — visual-first, concept-rich, reasoning-driven — that holds together across all six years and every topic.

02

Small groups, real attention

With 6–10 students per class, our teachers know every child's thinking style, not just their name. Parents tell us this is the single biggest difference they feel in the first month.

03

A clear, transparent pathway

You can see exactly where your child is, where they are heading, and what the next step looks like — from Grade 1 arithmetic all the way to Olympiad strategy.

04

Teachers trained in one method

Every VENA teacher is trained and continuously coached in the V-E-N-A methodology. Your child receives the same quality of teaching whether their class is on a Tuesday or a Saturday.

05

Genuine love of the subject

The children in our rooms are not being drilled. They are being shown something beautiful, carefully, by an adult who finds it beautiful too. That attitude is contagious, and it lasts.

Our Promise to Every Family

Your child will be known — how they think, where they struggle, what lights them up.

Your child will progress — with honest reporting on improvements and areas for growth.

Your child will not be rushed — depth always comes before pace.

Your child will be respected — wrong answers are information, never failure.

You will be informed — you'll always know what this term covers.

Your child will enjoy mathematics — this is not negotiable.
